Jean
Smith has practiced Buddhist meditation since 1986 and has
published the eight books on Buddhism that are included on the BuddhaBookSmith
site. She founded the High Peaks Sangha in the Adirondack Mountains
of New York, where she spent many happy years. Jean teaches beginning
meditation classes and has been a guest teacher at
Taos Mountain Sangha Meditation Center in Taos, New Mexico,
where she now lives, and at Vallecitos Mountain
Refuge, the Santa Fe Vipassana Sangha, and the Albuquerque Vipassana
Sangha. She is also president of the Board of The
Mountain Hermitage, a nonprofit retreat project in Northern
New Mexico, which offers hermitage-style Vipassana retreats. Her resident
bodhisattvas are an Affenpinscher named Sophie and a compassionate
quarterhorse named Bonita. |
